Dragonclaw date plant (Zizyphus jujuba cv. Tortuosa) in the Imperial Garden (Yu Huan Yuan) is a relative newcomer to the garden. It first appeared in the Forbidden City after the founding of the PRC in 1949 and then it was transplanted into the Imperial Garden in the 1970s.
