Microwave Faraday cage NRAO Green Bank

Just for fun, only at Green Bank NRAO will you find a microwave enclosed in a Faraday cage to shield from radio frequency interference. Most household microwave ovens generate microwaves at a wavelength of 2.45 gigahertz (= 122 mm wavelength) which can be picked up by the radio telescopes at NRAO.

The next set of images return to the solar system scale model outside the Jansky Laboratory.
